nighthawks

"Nighthawks" is a painting by Edward Hopper. The painting is very simple in regaurd to detail. There are 4 people in a diner called Phillies. They are all sitting at a bar and one of the four people is a bartender that is serving the other 3 drinks. The bar is in a triangle form and there is a couple that is one of the four people in the diner that are sitting next to eachother. The restraunt is on a corner of a street that looks like downtown New York in the 1960's.
The mood for this painting is almost calm. It looks like it is 2 a.m and people came to the bar for drinks late at night. Inside the restraunt it is lite up however outside the restraunt it is dark and there is no one in sight. It looks very quiet and the restraunt is about to close up for the night.

story collage critic #4

The feedback i got from people was very helpful and i can understand what they were trying to say. I got contructive comments like claify weather we scored or they scored; the ball could have been a bit smaller. I recieved some really nice feedback like you did really well with all the anthropromorphic, geometric and organic shapes; the grass looks really good; good job with the proportion and making it in perspective. Also a lot of people understood my story and what was going on which made me feel that i utilized my paper and material well. What i believe i could have changed was making the people more in proportion to the goal and put a little more detail in it. Like having people on the sides cheering and me having faced the other way with my arms in the air!

Shape collage reflection

With my shape i used both anthropromic, organic and geometric. I used the exacto knife and cut out my grass which is my organic shape. Then for my geometric shape i used numbers both on the jerseys and the scoreboard. Also my anthropromorphic shape is my soccer ball. the cut out black peices can represent many different things by the way that they are cut out.

Wire Sculputure Reflections

The most challenging part of making my wire sculpture was the start. I wasn't really sure where to start and how it would turn out. Also the coiling was hard to do around then wires. I think that my most successful part of my sculpture was the eyes, nose, mouth and eyebrows. The drawing assignment didn't really help me make my wire sculpture because i looked in the mirror while making my sculpture and not at the picture. Although it did give me and idea of proportions and where things are in realtion to my face. The most important thing i have learned about using lines is that not everything is the same width on your face and there are different shapes and sizes in places that you need to define.
