Collaborative Drawings

When i approached a classmates drawing I was a little nervous. I thought that I might mess up someones artwork. Once I figured out what needed to be done I looked at it and pictured how I was going to draw it in the way I see it. So I looked at the set up and then the paper. I took my charcol and drew light drawings first and then drew over them a little bit darker to show depth and value. When I returned to my drawing after everyone had made changes to it I was surprised. I think that my drawing went a long way and there were still somethings that I could change. I told myself it wasnt my drawing and I found way more details that I could correct in the drawing, espically when it came to proportions. In order to finish my drawing I worked on proportions and value to create my drawing and make it have more depth and life. It turned into a whole nother drawing when I was finished compared to when I started and the original peice.

ms roberts

the one that felt more natural to me was the free draw. because i could draw it how i wanted to and not how it is put up there to be. I think that it is also nice because it is your own and you dont have to compare it to everybody's. Although the drawing from observation was fun i still like the free draw more to express myself.

End of Year Reflection

I think that i achieved my goal of liking drawing and really trying my best on it. I believe that i improved dramatically as a drawer. The value drawing was probably one of my favorite pieces of artwork to date.
The value drawing was a lot of fun and i used leading lines value and proportion. It was really easy for me once i got into it. Now that i know all the art principles i think that it will be easier for me to draw correctly. However what i think i could have improved on is now showing the lines as much but have it more of a value and shade. Otherwise i really like the drawing and i think i really did a good job and it is my favorite project this term =D

inclass drawing
today in class i liked how it was simple drawing and they did not need to be perfect and have all the small little details but rather get the basic shapes down. What i think i was good at today was making everything in proportion with everything. However what was hard was not being able to erase things when i miss drew something and re draw over it.

nighthawks
"Nighthawks" is a painting by Edward Hopper. The painting is very simple in regaurd to detail. There are 4 people in a diner called Phillies. They are all sitting at a bar and one of the four people is a bartender that is serving the other 3 drinks. The bar is in a triangle form and there is a couple that is one of the four people in the diner that are sitting next to eachother. The restraunt is on a corner of a street that looks like downtown New York in the 1960's.
The mood for this painting is almost calm. It looks like it is 2 a.m and people came to the bar for drinks late at night. Inside the restraunt it is lite up however outside the restraunt it is dark and there is no one in sight. It looks very quiet and the restraunt is about to close up for the night.

story collage critic #4
The feedback i got from people was very helpful and i can understand what they were trying to say. I got contructive comments like claify weather we scored or they scored; the ball could have been a bit smaller. I recieved some really nice feedback like you did really well with all the anthropromorphic, geometric and organic shapes; the grass looks really good; good job with the proportion and making it in perspective. Also a lot of people understood my story and what was going on which made me feel that i utilized my paper and material well. What i believe i could have changed was making the people more in proportion to the goal and put a little more detail in it. Like having people on the sides cheering and me having faced the other way with my arms in the air!

Shape collage reflection
With my shape i used both anthropromic, organic and geometric. I used the exacto knife and cut out my grass which is my organic shape. Then for my geometric shape i used numbers both on the jerseys and the scoreboard. Also my anthropromorphic shape is my soccer ball. the cut out black peices can represent many different things by the way that they are cut out.

Wire Sculputure Reflections
The most challenging part of making my wire sculpture was the start. I wasn't really sure where to start and how it would turn out. Also the coiling was hard to do around then wires. I think that my most successful part of my sculpture was the eyes, nose, mouth and eyebrows. The drawing assignment didn't really help me make my wire sculpture because i looked in the mirror while making my sculpture and not at the picture. Although it did give me and idea of proportions and where things are in realtion to my face. The most important thing i have learned about using lines is that not everything is the same width on your face and there are different shapes and sizes in places that you need to define.

Week 1-3 reflections
This last couple weeks have been fun. I have really gotten to learn about myself and how i draw. I have found that i dont really like D.E.A.D. because i personally dont like to draw and i would rather do something more hands on then just drawing. However i do like the trip investigation where we had to draw our elements and then draw what we would bring things in! i lof3 using my creative side.
