Drawing from Obserrvation Skills

There were many skills that i used to produce the drawings that we have done over the last few weeks. I used value, proportion, texture and shading. All these were incorporated into the last drawing that we did with the set up of fine cones and baskets and the black and white table cloths. With the texture drawing i zoomed into to the little details and added shading and value to make the objects look more 3D. Then in the proportion drawing i used my pencil and other objects to map out what goes where on my drawing and how different objects are related to other ones. The we crinkled up some paper to show value and how we dont really see lines btu rather it is the way that the light is hitting it. From there were drew value to represent the shadows and darkness. We had to use the gray scale and it helped up in our drawing to show the darkest of dark and the brightest white. In the last drawing i had everything that we learned over the last few weeks and put them all together; shading, value, proportion and texture.

Collaborative Drawings

When i approached a classmates drawing I was a little nervous. I thought that I might mess up someones artwork. Once I figured out what needed to be done I looked at it and pictured how I was going to draw it in the way I see it. So I looked at the set up and then the paper. I took my charcol and drew light drawings first and then drew over them a little bit darker to show depth and value. When I returned to my drawing after everyone had made changes to it I was surprised. I think that my drawing went a long way and there were still somethings that I could change. I told myself it wasnt my drawing and I found way more details that I could correct in the drawing, espically when it came to proportions. In order to finish my drawing I worked on proportions and value to create my drawing and make it have more depth and life. It turned into a whole nother drawing when I was finished compared to when I started and the original peice.

ms roberts

the one that felt more natural to me was the free draw. because i could draw it how i wanted to and not how it is put up there to be. I think that it is also nice because it is your own and you dont have to compare it to everybody's. Although the drawing from observation was fun i still like the free draw more to express myself.
